About us
Life for African Mothers is a Maternal Health charity aiming to make birth safer in Sub Saharan Africa, by providing medication to treat eclampsia and post partum haemorrhage.
By providing medication to treat the complications of child birth, we have been able to support hospitals and health centres across Africa and see huge reductions in maternal mortality.
We also facilitate midwifery training programmes in several countries to help train and update qualified midwives to enhance their clinical skills in caring for mother and baby.
Life for African Mothers has been striving to support Millennium Development Goal 5: Reducing Maternal Mortality globally by 2015.
Founded in 2005 we grew very quickly gaining support and momentum from The Welsh Assembly, Unison, The Charity Advisory trust and the United Nations. We were approached by all corners of Africa and now operate in 8 countries.
We feel we are a unique Maternal Health charity our goals are simple; supply very cheap medications; Magnesium Sulphate and Misoprostol to help save the lives of women.
